About this home insulation grants guide

Who we are, in one honest paragraph

We are an independent UK information and eligibility hub built around a single subject: home insulation grants. We are not an installer, we fit nothing, and we run no grant scheme. Our job is to tell you the truth about which schemes are actually open, work out whether you genuinely qualify for your nation and circumstances, and — only if you want it — connect you with a TrustMark-registered installer. Applying to the schemes themselves is always free through the official channels, and we say so on every page.

Home insulation grants are one of the most misreported subjects on the UK web, which is exactly why this hub exists.

Why this hub exists

Search “free insulation grant” and you will see the problem. A large share of the results are lead-generation funnels that get the two facts that matter most the wrong way round. They present the Great British Insulation Scheme as still open — it closed on 31 March 2026. They tell you ECO4 closed in March 2026 — it was extended by nine months and runs to 31 December 2026. Some invent an “ECO5” that does not exist. Almost all of them are silently England-only, so a reader in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland is routinely pointed at a scheme that does not apply where they live.

That costs people money and time. Someone who would genuinely qualify talks themselves out of it after reading a stale “the scheme has ended” post; someone else spends an afternoon on a scheme that closed months ago, or that never ran in their nation. We built this hub to give the single, dated, nation-correct version instead.

What you will often read, versus the verified position

What you’ll often read onlineThe verified position (as at July 2026)
“Apply now for the Great British Insulation Scheme”GBIS closed on 31 March 2026; the checker is shut (gov.uk).
“ECO4 closed in March 2026”ECO4 was extended and runs to 31 December 2026 (gov.uk).
“New ECO5 grants from April 2026”There is no ECO5 and no successor obligation (confirmed November 2025 Budget).
“Free insulation for everyone”Grants are gated by benefits, income, EPC band and nation — and don’t always cover 100%.

What we actually do

  • We state the real position with dated sources. Every scheme, figure and deadline is stamped “as at July 2026” and, where it matters, linked to the primary source — gov.uk, Ofgem, mygov.scot or the NI Housing Executive. If the rules move, the date tells you whether what you’re reading is still current.
  • We check eligibility honestly, before anyone quotes you. Most schemes target EPC D–G homes and lower-income or benefit households, and the rules differ by nation. If your situation doesn’t fit, we would rather tell you now — and point you to the 0% VAT self-fund route — than let it come as a surprise later.
  • We connect people with accredited installers only if they want it. We match; we do not fit. Any installer we point you to should be TrustMark-registered and working to PAS 2035, and you can walk away at any step.

What we will never do

We do not publish fabricated review scores, invented star ratings or made-up installation counts — this is an information hub, and there is no honest way to show ratings for work we did not do. We will not tell you a grant is “free money”, will not present a closed scheme as open, and will not pressure you with fake deadlines. We hold no installer accreditations of our own, and we never imply we are government-approved. If a grant is not right for your home — because you’re in a nation it doesn’t cover, your EPC is already good, or you rent from a council — we will say so plainly.

How to use this hub

Start with the free eligibility checker: it asks your nation first, then tells you honestly which live scheme is most likely to apply. Read the page for your nation for the exact rules and how to apply, and the cost guide to see where a grant matters most (solid wall) and least (loft). If you qualify and want help, we’ll point you to a TrustMark-registered installer; if you don’t, you’ll leave knowing exactly why, with the sources to back it up.

Check your insulation grant options

We aim to reply within one working day

Tell us a little about your home and we’ll help you work out which live insulation grant fits — ECO4, the Warm Homes: Local Grant, Home Energy Scotland, Nest or Affordable Warmth — and point you to a genuinely TrustMark-registered installer if you want one. We’re an independent guide, not an installer, and we run no grant. Applying to the schemes is always free.

  • 1. Tell us your situation — your nation, tenure and roughly how efficient your home is.
  • 2. We sense-check the grant and tell you honestly which scheme (if any) applies.
  • 3. You decide — no obligation, and no pushy calls.
  • Independent guide
  • gov.uk & Ofgem-sourced
  • TrustMark / PAS 2035
  • No obligation

By submitting you agree to our privacy policy. We never sell your details, and you can stop at any step.

No obligation and no pushy calls. If no grant fits your home, we’ll tell you straight.

FAQS

Common questions

Are you an installer, or do you run a grant scheme?

Neither. We are an independent information and eligibility hub. We install nothing and run no grant. We publish the verified position on UK home insulation grants, check your eligibility honestly, and — only if you want — connect you with a TrustMark-registered installer. Applying to the schemes is always free.

Why do your figures differ from other sites I have read?

Because many guides are out of date or nation-wrong. GBIS closed on 31 March 2026, ECO4 is still open (to 31 December 2026), there is no “ECO5”, and schemes differ completely by nation. Every figure here is dated “as at July 2026” and linked to gov.uk, Ofgem, mygov.scot or the NI Housing Executive.

Do you show customer reviews or ratings?

No. As an information hub we carried out no installations, so there is no honest way for us to display review scores, star ratings or install counts, and we will not invent them. What we offer instead is accuracy: dated facts, primary-source links, and a candid eligibility check before you speak to any installer.
